What is Interventional Pain Management?

Interventional pain management is a specialized field of medicine focused on diagnosing and treating chronic and acute pain through minimally invasive procedures. Unlike general pain relief approaches that rely heavily on medication, interventional techniques target the source of pain directly, often offering faster, longer-lasting relief with fewer side effects. These treatments are ideal for conditions such as back and neck pain, herniated discs, sciatica, arthritis, joint pain, and nerve damage. Common procedures include epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and spinal cord stimulation.

By combining medical expertise with advanced imaging and precision techniques, interventional pain specialists help patients reduce pain, improve function, and avoid unnecessary surgery — all with a focus on restoring quality of life.
